

The European Union moves in to restore order, California and allies break off to form a new territory followed closely by Texas, the north Pacific, plains, southern, and New England states. When a low grade nuclear weapon is detonated in Washington D.C., the president is killed along with much of the government, completely fracturing the chain of succession. Domestic terror attacks grow more frequent and when a rigged election brings the most unpopular president in US history back into office, things raise to a new level. What we see here is a look at a broken future where corrupt officials have kidnapped the government from the people, fracturing the populace into disgruntled separatists. Don't expect the playful heroes and bright colors.


The game itself is based wholly off of real world fiction and real world weaponry. That comparison is mainly to get the tactical turn-based nature across. Don't get me wrong here, there are a lot of differences between the two. PC.IGN took a look at the promising turn-based strategy game from PopTop, Shattered Union: The best comparison to a popular game I can think of for PopTop's Shattered Union is probably Advance Wars.
